Client Advisory Board (“CAB”)

Mission To act as advocates for the clients of Open Door Health Center (ODHC) by promoting and providing feedback and suggestions in order to improve or enhance continuity of care and client services.

Taking action with compassion to address the issues of isolation, stigma, and misinformation often associated with HIV/ AIDS, working to improve overall health and lives of the clients of ODHC and the community at large.

Membership

Any HIV+ individual receiving primary care, case management, or behavioral health services including support groups from Open Door may apply to become a member. Advocacy experience is a plus. If you are interested in becoming a member, you may contact the CAB or complete an application

The CAB Responsibilities & Purpose

The Client Advisory Board advises the Board of Directors of ODHC, to keep the agency focused and on track by providing a first-hand perspective on issues that Persons Living with AIDS (PLWA) and their families face.

Open Door’s Corporate By-laws require that one CAB member also be a member of the Board of Directors. The CAB assists Open Door Staff to avoid and overcome Service Barriers for existing and potential clients. Evaluate and continuum of care for that People Living with HIV/AIDS at Open Door and partner healthcare and social service organizations. The CAB promotes Open Door’s mission by building relationships with State and Local AIDS Agencies and nonprofits.

The CAB in partnership with like minded AIDS Service Organizations organizes Client Advocacy training and events (please see “Open Door AIDS Advocacy”) CAB Is Fun (and “free”) CAB engages and support Open Door’s clients by hosting social and educational events. These include, but are not limited to AIDS/HIV Bowling Championships ~ free events, with food (and bowling shoes) for clients, family, and friends, several times every year at St. Charles Bowl, 2520 W Main St, St. Charles, IL 60175. CLIENT PICNIC ~ Food & Fun for clients family and friends, prospectively in 2024, at Fabyan Park, 925 Batavia Ave. Geneva, IL. OPEN DOOR CLIENT HOLIDAY PARTY GALA ~ for clients, family and friends, featuring [Trans + Bi-racial] Santa/Hanuka/Kwansa Claus, “Holiday Feast,” presents for the kiddies, raffles, etc.
