Navigating Mental Health with Open Door

1

We view mental health comprehensively, considering the person's emotional, psychological, and
social well-being.

Our program is designed to support individuals experiencing poor mental health, helping them transition to a state of well-being. Mental health challenges can impact one's ability to feel, think, act, or cope with stress, and we understand the diverse range of conditions, such as bipolar disorder, depression, anxiety, PTSD, and schizophrenia.

2

Our approach to mental health services is non-stigmatized and bias-free.

We recognize the complexities of living with a chronic disease and a behavioral health issue, especially for those living with HIV. While having HIV doesn't guarantee mental health problems, various factors like disclosing your diagnosis, stigma, loss of social support, isolation, and difficulties accessing mental health services can impact your well-being.

Get Care Quickly

You don't have to wait for a scheduled visit to access behavioral health services. Speak with your case manager, peer advocate, or medical staff to schedule an appointment. Remember, you are not alone, and we are here to help you feel your best.

Your well-being is our priority.

In a mental health crisis requiring immediate assistance, call 988. Other hotline numbers include the Crisis Line of the Fox Valley at 630-966-9393 or the National Hotline at 1-800-784-2433, both available 24/7 in English and Spanish. For national LGBTQIA+ support, call 1-888-843-4564.

If you notice signs of a mental health problem, including increased anxiety, stress, suicidal thoughts, persistent sadness, loss of interest in activities, or changes in appetite, don’t hesitate to reach out to us for support. Open Door provides individual, family, and group therapy, facilitated by trained staff knowledgeable about mental health, substance abuse, and HIV. Telehealth appointments are also available when needed.

When you come in for care at Open Door, you may undergo a mental health screening to identify issues like depression, anxiety, PTSD, and substance usage. Depending on the results, you might be offered services and a referral to one of our mental health providers for a more comprehensive assessment with treatment recommendations.
